Nayi Peedhi Plast Sankalp Abhiyan - Why from Kashi?

On the eve of World Environment Day, the national launch of “Nayi Peedhi – Plast Sankalp Abhiyan” is being organized in Varanasi on 4 June 2026.

This initiative is based on the theme “Plastic in Urban Development: Problem & Solution”, with the objective of bringing together stakeholders from the plastics industry, recycling sector, machinery manufacturing companies, startups, policymakers, environmentalists, academicians, and young entrepreneurs on a common platform.

The campaign is especially focused on promoting the principles of “Reduce, Reuse & Recycling” within the plastics industry and encouraging sustainable industrial thinking among the younger generation.

Significance of the Initiative ÷ This is not merely an event, but a socio-industrial movement inspired by the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji on cleanliness, sustainability, and youth-led industrial development.

The campaign is being launched from Varanasi, the parliamentary constituency of the Prime Minister, with the objective of delivering a strong national message regarding responsible industrial growth and sustainable plastic management.

In the coming phases, the campaign will also be expanded to other major metropolitan cities and industrial centers across the country in order to promote sustainability, recycling, and responsible industrial development within the plastics industry through a broader national awareness movement and positive industrial engagement.

About Plast Sankalp- Nayi Peedhi Plast Sankalp Abhiyan - Why from Kashi?

Kashi is not merely a city, but a living consciousness of Sanatan culture, a place from where every thought, every practice, and every resolution spreads across the nation as energy. In our scriptures, “Sankalp” is considered not just a decision, but a force that determines inner resolve and a power that determines the direction of action.

Before any pooja, Yagn, or any auspicious work, we take a “Sankalp”- because Sankalp is that moment when a thought becomes a practice, and a practice becomes a result. And when this very resolution is taken on the sacred land of Kashi, its significance increases even more.

In the Skanda Purana, Kashi has been called the “Avimukta Kshetra”, that is, the place from where the flow of liberation and consciousness continues eternally. It is not only a spiritual centre, but also the origin of the nation’s consciousness. Therefore, a resolution taken in Kashi does not remain local; it becomes a nationwide inspiration.

Long-Term Vision

“Nayi Peedhi Plast Sankalp” is an extension of this very sentiment. This initiative is not against plastic, but rather a conscious effort towards its responsible, balanced, and sustainable use. Today, plastic is an important part of modern life. The need is to adopt it wisely and maintain balance with nature.

That is why the campaign begins from Kashi -
  • 1. Because a resolution taken here does not remain just words; it becomes a value.
  • 2. A voice raised from here does not remain just a thought; it becomes a movement.
  • 3. And this is the core essence of the initiative - “Resolution from Kashi, Solutions for the Nation”
